Description:
In the first session, we covered the basics of using a laser, with an emphasis on computer aided design using the LightBurn software. We discussed the types of projects you may do on the laser and you worked on designing your first piece of work for the laser.
In this second session, we will discuss how to safely use the laser and operational procedures. We will then take turns on the laser, allowing you to produce your piece. As time allows you will then sand and finish your piece. If there is not enough time, you can do the finishing work on your own time.
IMPORTANT: Reflected laser light is quite dangerous to your eyes. Standard safety glasses and sunglasses will not block the light. In addition, the cover on the laser DOES NOT block all of the light. If you wish, you can purchase safety glasses specifically for our type of laser, wave length of 10600nm. In any case, even with the glasses, DO NOT STARE AT THE LASER WHILE IT IS RUNNING.
You will have a 1-hour break for lunch.
