Honolulu Kūpuna Shed Hosts Holiday Sale of Handcrafted Items at Downtown Art Center

Honolulu, Hawaiʻi – 11/28/25 – The Honolulu Kūpuna Shed will host a special Holiday Sale at Downtown Art Center, 1041 Nuʻuanu Ave, during the first two weekends in December featuring unique handcrafted items made primarily from sustainably sourced local woods, such as koa, mango, and lychee.

Shoppers will find a variety of thoughtfully crafted pieces—bowls, cutting boards, table top Christmas trees, home décor, walking sticks, toys, jewelry, kitchen utensils and more—designed and made by members of the Honolulu Kūpuna Shed.

“Our members pour a lot of care, skill, and aloha into every piece they make,” said Bill Chismar of the Honolulu Kūpuna Shed. “This holiday sale is a chance for people to support kūpuna creativity, take home something beautiful and useful, and help keep woodworking and handcrafting skills alive in Hawaiʻi.”

Much of the wood used in the products has been reclaimed or sustainably sourced from local trees, reflecting the group’s commitment to careful stewardship of island resources. Each purchase supports the Kūpuna Shed’s mission of providing a safe, social, and creative space where kūpuna can gather, share skills, and stay active and engaged.
